The 55" Bullseye is for those flyers who want a faster and more aerobatic big wing. See videos below. Symmetrical wings are more stable at the 100+ mph speeds. The Bullseye is the same size and shape as a Grim Reaper but it has a fully symmetrical airfoil. It is built to take abuse and survive just like the Grim Reaper. The symmetrical airfoil helps this plane fly the same upside down as it flies right side up. Inside and outside loops are easy and predictable. The Bullseye can be fast but remains very controllable with an easy flair on landing. The Bullseye is still amazing at low and mid-range speeds without tip stalling or loss of control.
The symmetrical wing on the Bullseye is the same thickness as the semi symmetrical wing on the Grim Reaper with room for bigger batteries and FPV gear. It will balance with one 2700 3S battery which makes it inexpensive to set up and fly and helps to keep the weight down. Planes with lighter weight have a better glide and slow speed performance and longer flight times. (We like this shape and design because it will balance on the CG without a fuselage or lots of batteries.)
Let me compare the Grim Reaper to the Bullseye. They are the same thickness at the thickest point. Both fly well and are great aerobatic and indestructible designs. They are both built using the same basic instructions. The Grim Reaper is designed for higher lift and slower glide. It is still very aerobatic and a local favorite combat plane because it is bigger and easier to see and easier to keep in formation. The Bullseye is designed for enhanced aerobatics, precision and high speed flying because of the clean symmetrical airfoil. It accelerates faster. It has the increased ability to fly inverted with almost no down stick and to maintain stability at ballistic speeds. The Bullseye and Grim Reaper can easily fly in combat and formation together. The Bullseye airfoil will fly great with the same motors, props, batteries and ESCs as the Grim Reaper
The Bullseye is built using the same instructions as the same as the Grim Reaper except .....
1. Reflex is almost not needed on the Bullseye because of the symmetrical airfoil shape and
2. Bend the motor mount so the motor is set at 0 degrees to the thrust line of the wing.
If you are going for ultra high speed in the 120+ mph range
1. Put 4X layers of laminate on the elevons and more E-tape to stiffen the plane.
2. High torque servos and linkages also need to be reinforced for the increased forces.
The 55" symmetrical wing Bullseye kit includes the laminate and motor mount making it one of the best deals for this size plane on the market. It is also available with our buy 5 get one free discount. It is hard to beat Crashtesthobby's prices, durability and customer service.
We design our planes to be more durable and easier to maintain. We have designed the Bullseye to fly with a 2200-3000 mA 3S battery without added nose weight if you build light. (Many planes on the market have to have the builder to cut into the back of the wing, add a lot of weight like batteries to the nose of the plane, or to put a fuselage on the plane to get the CG far enough forward to get the plane to fly.) Crashtesthobby designs have many advantages in flight performace, lighter weight, lower costs and durability.
With the recommended motor/prop combo and a 3S battery, both the Grim Reaper and the Bullseye have a of speed range of 15 to 85+ mph. They are truly a versatile wings. To get more speed increase to 4S or 6S on the cells on the battery and make appropriate adjustments to which motor, prop, ESC and servos you are using.
